Biography

Palak Muchhal was born into a middle class family in Indore. Her mother, Amita Muchhal is a homemaker and her father, Rajkumar Muchhal serves as an Accountant in a private firm. She is a Class X student of Queen's College, Indore. Palak started singing when she was four year old. At the age of six, she started singing door-to-door in Indore city to collect fund for soldiers on the Kargil warfront. Her decision to use her voice to help others was triggered when she saw poor children were using clothes off their back to clean train compartments. She belongs to Maheshwari Marwari family.

When she heard that a 5 year old boy named Lokesh from her own city, Indore, was in need of financial assistance for urgent heart surgery she used a street vendor's cart as a stage for her singing stage show. She collected enough money for the heart surgery in only one show. Before she could help Lokesh, a Bangalore based Cardiologist Devi Prasad Shetty operated the surgery of Lokesh free of cost after seeing news on TV. But other poor parents needing funds for treatment of heart disease of their children approached Palak for help. And thus began her mission to collect funds for child heart patients by performing stage shows across India and abroad. She has been trained in Indian classical music by Pandit S. N. Mishra. Palak and her parents do not receive any benefits from her charity shows. She receives a doll for every child whose life she helps make better by the funds raised by her. So far she has received 503 dolls representing 503 lives she has saved. She has 621 more heart patients on her waiting list. Palak sings in 17 different languages which includes national and international languages.[5]
